4th and Final Chemo Treatment

That's right! This was my last treatment. I went on Tuesday, November 25th for my 4th chemo treatment. Dr. Morgan is on maturnity leave so I met Dr. Whittaker who is taking her place. He introduced himself to my mom, Linda, and me and said "Congratulations, this is your last treatment!" We were all surprised as Dr. Morgan said the last treatment that my results from the PET/CT Scan were "remarkable" but didn't say I didn't need to take any more treatments. Dr. Whittaker confirmed that the cancer is in remission!! I give all the praise to God and to the many prayers that have gone before me. Thank you. I can't imagine having to take 4 more of those treatments as this last one was really hard. Linda had made cheese enchiladas and brought to me, so we celebrated together! I go back December 22nd to have my port flushed and then in three months will have another PET/CT Scan. Again, thank you to all of you who have prayed for me. "Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases." Psalm 103:2-3

3rd Chemo Treatment

On Monday, November 3, I had my 3rd chemo treatment. Mom and Linda were both with me again. They have been wonderful support for me. Dr Morgan said my results from the PEP/CT Scan were remarkable!! She said there was no evidence of the cancer cells growing!! This was very encouraging. I give praise to God! This time I was in a room with others who were getting their treatment. It was interesting to share our stories with each other. Marilyn, from my small group, came by to see me. She brought me a lot of goodies to eat and is always a delight to see. I felt weaker this week, with more nausea, and of course the metal taste of everything. But I feel very blessed by the meals I'm receiving and all the support and prayers of everyone. "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save, He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

PET/CT Scan

I have my PET/CT scan on Thursday, October 30th, at 10:00. This is where I drink a liquid material at different intervals and will be injected with a radioactive tracer. I will be placed in a room by myself for two and a half to three hours while this radioactive compound travels throughout my body to see where the cancer is. I will then be put through the scanner. They told me during the time I'm in the room by myself that I cannot read or listen to music....just sit there quietly....but I can pray, so if anyone wants me to pray for anything specifically, just let me know....that is something I can do! I'm expecting good results. I will let you know after I talk to my doctor on Monday, November 3, as that is my next chemo treatment.

2nd Chemo Treatment

On Monday, October 13th, I had my 2nd round of chemo. My mom and sister, Linda, went with me. Dr. Jennifer Morgan came in and talked to us. She said my blood test were good....so it was a go for the treatment. I ask her if she was considering taking my tonsils out and she said no that with lymphoma, the chemo would be taking care of it. My nurse, Jolyn, is wonderful. Like me, she grew up on a dairy farm and was in 4-H with her livestock. So it was fun to share our stories. The treatment lasted about 6 hours this time. Dr. Morgan has me set up to have another Pet scan on October 30th. Mom spent the night with me and made potato soup for me. I missed work on Tuesday but God sent me an angel.....my sister, Chris, for Wednesday. She went to work with me and helped me with all the cleaning! I gave her a work out. Ha! She is the sister who is very hard working and has a heart of gold....so it was truly a blessing to have her for the day. She also spent Tuesday night with me. My small community group from church has been bringing me meals each week which has been a tremendous help and blessing. I just really feel the fatigue and weakness. The metal taste is back and my throat and mouth are sore so I really have to work at eating and drinking. One night, I was able to go to my nephew's track meet and last Saturday evening was able to go to a weiner roast at Chris and Ernie's. So I'm always grateful when I do have the energy to do things. That would be my prayer request....that I would have daily strength and energy.

My Hair

My hair is all gone as of Friday night. It started coming out Sunday evening and each day more and more came out by the hand full. So my dear friend, Susie, from my small community group, who is a hair dresser, shaved my head. I cried and then we laughed and had fun with it. The small community group all went together and gave me a monetary gift to buy a nice wig. They have been such a blessing to me. As Susie was doing my hair, her daughter Bobbi, who is 10 years old, was making a little book for me. The book is titled "What I See". "I see a rabbit, I see a bird, I see a fish etc. At the end, it said, "I see you" It had a face with a big smile on it. So whether I have hair or no hair, I can smile because God loves me no matter what!

1st Chemo Treatment

On Monday, September 22, I had my first chemo treatment after being diagnosed with cancer....lymphoma. My mom and sister, Linda went with me. We were there for 8 hours. From the beginning, the oncologist was very vague about everything. We were not prepared to be there that long as he didn't let us know before. I didn't have a good connection with him or his team. My friend, Pam works for the cancer center in Fishers and she highly recommended seeing the oncologist, Dr. Morgan. I was able to get in to see her on Friday, September 26th. She spent 2 hours with me, my mom, and Linda, answering questions and going over everything. So I changed over to her and her team. They work out of Clarian North Hospital. Dr. Morgan explained that the cancer is in my back, spine, tonsils, and gall bladder. It is Stage 4. Because it is so aggressive, she will be doing 8 rounds of chemo, with radiation towards the end. The good news is that it is treatable. The treatment will be once every 3 weeks and will last 6 to 7 hours each time. I was very weak after my first treatment on that Monday and Tuesday but was able to return to work on Wednesday and Thursday. One of the side effects was that I had metal mouth..... everything I eat or drink taste like metal. My next treatment will be Monday, October 13th at 9:00 a.m. I know many are praying and so appreciate that. God is good and I know He will walk along side me on this journey.
